Ardbeg Smokiverse is a limited-edition Islay single malt Scotch whisky released on Ardbeg Day 2025 to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Ardbeg Committee.
It marks a historic milestone for Ardbeg as it is the distillery’s first-ever expression produced using an experimental high-gravity mash. This revolutionary technique requires a significantly higher proportion of malted barley in the mash, meaning they used less water and more malted barley grain in the mash tun, to create an exceptionally dense, sugar-rich wort, intensifying the forces at play during fermentation and revealing deeper, more complex, and powerfully peated aromas.
Created especially for Ardbeg Day 2025, this limited edition celebrates the distillery’s spirit of innovation through a space-themed universe that propels the whisky into a cosmic dimension. The whisky rested in first-fill bourbon casks, combined with carefully selected toasted casks, marrying Ardbeg’s signature smoky intensity with an unprecedented sweet, exotic depth. This innovative approach opens a new aromatic palette while preserving the peated DNA that has earned the brand worldwide renown.
Non-chill-filtered and bottled at 48.3% ABV.
Nose
An explosion of fruity, estery notes, reminiscent of smoked bubblegum , fuse with whiffs of ripening barley and toasted sourdough bread. A splash of water reveals dense, sweet, and aromatic peat smoke, accompanied by gently smoked tropical fruits.
Palate
A rich, creamy mouthfeel drifts into sharp, sooty and spicy notes of creosote, aniseed, and clove. Tempered by the distinct sweetness of muscovado sugar, robust woody notes orbit rich charcoal and the powerful peat smoke is joined by candied citrus for remarkable complexity.
Finish
Long and earthy, featuring peat moss and hot bonfire embers.
