Distilled in the town of Indri in the northern state of Haryana, near the Himalayan foothills,
Agneya gets its name from the Sanskrit word meaning “belonging to fire”. The whisky carries a whisper of peat smoke layered over a complex profile resulting in a warm, balanced dram with subtle smoke, rounded spice, and a lingering finish.
Unlike heavily peated Islay-style whiskies, Agneya uses indigenous six-row barley gently kilned over peat smoke to create a lightly smoked spirit. It is matured in a combination of American Oak Bourbon and
Pedro Ximénez (PX) Sherry casks, which are then carefully selected by the Master Blender to bring together the best of both worlds.
The bourbon casks lend notes of vanilla, caramel and toasted wood, while the PX seasoned sherry casks enrich the spirit with layers of dried fruits, warm spices, and nutty undertones, which allows the whisky to develop a nuanced depth and complexity showcasing the distinct influence of both cask types.
