The Old Perth blended malt whisky brand is a tribute to the city of Perth in Scotland, which was the blending capital of the whisky world back in the day, where many great blended malts were created.
The label disappeared in the 1970s only to be resurrected in 2013 by independent bottlers, Morrison & Mackay who further expanded the range in late 2015 with the introduction of a Peaty expression and this one, produced with whiskies aged in Sherry casks.
This pleasantly sherried variant allegedly includes malts from Glenfarclas, Blair Athol and Glentauchers, all matured in the three main sherry cask types: butts, puncheons and the smaller hogsheads. Rather than classic sherry, the bouquet has a spicy character - a little fruity, gingery, warming and medium bodied - which makes for an easy drinking whisky.
