Gordon & MacPhail is an independent bottler and distiller of Scotch Whisky located in Elgin, which was originally established as a grocery business in 1895, curating all manner of groceries from around the world such as teas, coffees, wines and whisky.

Their appreciation of the rich tapestry of flavours they encountered led the founders, James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail, to seek out and complement this varied stock with equally fine produce in the form of Speyside’s many and varied single malt Scotch whiskies.

For over 125 years and four generations of family ownership, Gordon & MacPhail has matched spirit from over 100 Scottish distilleries to its own bespoke casks - a distinct and unique heritage which makes them renowned amongst Independent Bottlers, not for their age (though they are the oldest independent bottler in Scotland), but for their complete mastery of cask ageing.

Gordon & MacPhail is the only bottler to have its own casks – carefully chosen for the purpose – filled by the distilleries themselves, instead of simply buying the ones suggested to them by the latter. This allows them to determine, in advance and with great precision, exactly how many years a whisky will need to reach ideal maturation.
